WHAT IS ADVANCED LEVEL?
The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level, more commonly called the A Level, is a school leaving qualification offered by educational bodies in the United Kingdom to students completing secondary or pre-university education. Obtaining A level or equivalent qualifications is generally required for university entrance. The syllabus develops a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills.
WHO ARE A-LEVELS FOR?
Cambridge Advanced Level is typically for students aged between 16-18 years who have completed IGCSE ( International General Certificate for Secondary Education) with a minimum pass grade of C or above in five subjects or equivalent.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LEVELS and AS LEVELS?
A levels are worked towards over two years and split into two parts, with one part studied in each year. The first year is known as Advanced Subsidiary Level also called the AS Level. At MISB we call it as the Year.12. The second year is known as the Advancel Level aslo called the A Level. At MISB we call it as the Year.13. The A level is more in depth and academically rigorous than the AS Level. The AS level is a qualification in its own right, and the AS level combined with the A Level forms the complete A Level qualification.
